In my last entry, I posted two videos on classical Goju-ryu Kata, Tensho and Suparempei, by two very senior instructors; Wakugawa and Iha. In today’s entry, let’s take a look at a series of videos shot from a recent charity demo by the Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Kai headed by Masakazu Kinjo sensei. In it you can see some good demonstrations of bo, sai, tonfa, and the like; including Kinjo’s unique creation of Kubagawa no nunchaku. All said, it’s very nice to see everyone doing their best for a good cause.

Am I going mad or did I spot Taira Masaji sensei in the background during Maezato no Tekko and Sushi no kun dai?
Very nice link, I’ve added it to my subscriptions. I’ve always liked Kinjo sensei’s kobudo. Thanks!
Hmm. Now I’m going to have to take a closer look…
Hello Mario,
That is definitely Taira sensei. Great link. Thanks again for sharing.
Just took another look and yes that’s definitely Taira sensei. Didn’t know he did kobudo. Pleasant surprise.
There is a lesson in that for us that such a senior and well respected Goju practitioner is also humble enough to be in the back row of a kobudo demo.
Very true. It’s great to see Taira San has a range of interests to augment his unique karate.
